Bloomin' Monday plus Onions everywhere - update!

The mini monsoon that hit us here yesterday (ie. 30 hours of sheet rain and gales) has finally stopped. The silence is deafening and all I can see out my velux window onto the world is a white sky which blends well with the white ceiling in this attic. Oh it sounded rough all night and being in the attic was a little like a rain storm when you're camping - loud but re-enforces that feeling of 'thank goodness I'm not out there'.

I took this photo at the weekend, or maybe it was one night during last week, I can't remember but it isn't important - all these darling blooms will be strewn all over the plot by now :( Hey, at least I always have a camera with me and can capture the glory moments when they do come. Feast your eyes on this load of happy colour :)
oh go on have 2
Look BLUE sky!!
***********
Oh and the onion comp. Well I didn't get to go. "Why not", you ask. "I was looking forward to all the pics and the gossip!". Yes, yes, so was I but before we went we decided to have a Chinese meal, of course Andrew ordered no onions in mine but....it would appear they just cooked it all and then poked them out at the end = food poisoning for Carrie - hooray! I can't eat onions, how many times does this need to be said!

Saturday night was thus a horrid puke fest for me and I spent most of my time in the bathroom. The irony was not lost though, even through the sea of vomit - I couldn't go to the onion comp because an onion had tried to kill me!!
evil onion

Wow, it's not like we were going to win anyway, so why the conspiracy?? Who at the lotties has taken up a part-time Saturday job at the local Chinese. No one is owning up......

So sorry about that. I will try to catch all the gossip the next time I'm there at the plots and who knows maybe someone has photos I can use. Hugs xxx

UPDATE - Tuesday morning
Going from a cafe to the car this morning I was shocked to find a very random and shifty looking red onion in the car park, the next space to us! I'm starting to fear imminent mass attack and have gone into hiding... ;)

Bloomn' Monday - A red poppy

My utterly gorgeous oriential red poppy - 'Ni hao! and how are you today?'

'Well, my my ' said I, ' hello to you too and aren't you just absolutely, utterly gorgeous. I am having a fab day thank you, the sun is shining and the birds are singing and everything here on my lottie is growing before my eyes - today, my friend, is a good day.'

'I am glad, for today is also a good day for me. I opened up to my fullest today and the sun was shining on my face and the bees were visiting me for breakfast, it has really been quite delightful so far. Oh and then here you are with your lovely dog'.

Maggie tries to sniff Poppy in a friendly way and danders off to check for cats ('darn cats', thinks Maggie)

'May I take your photograph?' says I

'Why yes please, for you see as a Poppy I get battered about as soon as the weather turns and I look particulary nice today, I would love for you friends to see me', said Poppy.

And so I did take her photo and here she is looking all gorgeous. She has many siblings coming too and that makes me very happy - Saturday's visit to the lottie was a very lovely affair indeed :)

Where did Monday go?? - part 2

Bloomin' Monday - a fabulously pink, pink Gerbera, oh so pink..

***
Andrew built an ingenious new bench/storage system inside the shed. All from his own wonderful mind; he dreamt this up and then just went out and made it happen. I am one proud wife! It was so simple when you really took a step back, of course we could have a bench inside- eh viola! -extra room, extra cozy. Andy left it open around the bottom so we could store longer items such as bamboo canes and the azada etc. It's pretty darn nifty if you ask me and another feather to add to his already quite bird-like cap. Hoorah for 'can-do hubbys'!!

Now I just want there to be a terrible (but very quick) freak rain storm at the lottie, so we can go in and sit down comfortably, lock the door from the inside (oh, yes he has enabled us to do that too) and have a cuppa. Really must do the girly thing, the right thing and make cushions for our bums, ummm........

Stay tuned for tomorrow's results on the PSB taste session!

Bloomin' Monday/ Bloomin' Malvern!

After a mixed bag of a weekend, here I find myself back at another Monday - where is the time going? It's nearly April but I'm having trouble believing we are out of Feburary yet. The weather was gloriously spring-like on Saturday and today we're being warned about snow again, possibly for the whole week ahead I feel very mixed up. Really I ought to migrate every year, just follow the sun; birds may have small brains but I think they've got to be the most savvy little creatures out there.

Here are my most beautiful 'Bloomin Monday' flowers yet (in my opinion). A deep firey red Tulip with a cream/yellow, slighty ruffled edge and the darkest purple stamens - Fab. This photo doesn't do them justice, I'll maybe change it later...

Plus......

Check me out - Guest post on Meet at Malvern today! *blushes with pride* I did tell you I'm going to the Malvern Spring Show didn't I!??? I can't wait, you can check it all out at above site, beautifully run by VP and The Patient Gardener.

And thank you for all the comments on the last bloggette, I'll get back to you later on xxx (and I went to the Zoo - yippeee)

Bloomin' Monday - Magenta Tulips

Another Bloomin' Monday has come upon us, crept up like a thief in the night. Were are the days going? I can hardly believe the weekend is over but joy does wait in the wings....St Patrick's Day is on Wednesday and of course my hubby will be off and it shall be spud planting day!

Now though, let us commually bask in glory of these Tulips, which are making me smile today as they have done all weekend. I'm so tired after a terrible nights sleep that I have been staring at these quite a lot to calm the mind and ease the double vision (I have 18 tulips in my world, haha ).

Going to have a nice packed week of stuff to share so for now I'm going to enjoy my decaff coffee and snuggle up with Maggie and my blanket and listen to the rain...until I finally drift off to sleep......

x
Hoorah, I slept and to celebrate here's another tulip photo xxxxx

Reclaiming my Bloomin' Monday!

Well gosh darn it if the mind monster in my head didn't just steal another day from me. I am here (not at full power but getting there) to get it back! I am aware that it is Tuesday but this is my blog and here I make the rules. So today is Monday - I shall have my Monday with a side of 'happy', thank you very much Mr Monster.

As per usual I have a very beautiful bloom to share with you (which ironically may not have been this open and this gorgeous yesterday...). This little darling and her friends were found outside in a pot in Mamma G's garden. Just smiling away at the world and easily overlooked; with a bin in front of them poor dears.

Also whilst outside I was able to see the sun room window sill (it's so full in there with all Andrew and my sofas and furniture etc, that it is for the present, un-useable. Andrew, with his long legs and arms can reach all the way to this window from the inside (amazing what the body can do in extreme situations) and has these Spuds chitting away merrily. Of course they won't be planted until St Patrick's Day (as is tradition). Beside them in a very condensation filled covered tray I think there are Celeraic and happy news from the lottie yesterday ~ tiny specks of green in the Leek seed trays!! Yippeeeeee.

Andrew also planted some Tomato seeds, they're on a window sill too, I think it's the kitchen, can't think where else they could be.

Still have lots to tell about the lottie at the weekend. But for now a very big THANK YOU to everyone who wrote a comment yesterday. Reading them late last night honestly gave me a lot of hope and strength. I truly have the nicest followers in the world. I will get around to personal replies but forgive me, migraines are haunting me after yesterday and I can't stay on the computer long. Big HUGS xx

Bloomin' Monday - Yellow Rose and White Carnation

I feel rather bad that all those posts came up automatically after my post on the death of Bobby. I had that all set up already before the news of his passing in order to keep the blog going whilst I was away in Fermanagh. It should have stayed focused on him for the rest of the week and I am sorry to have been, not exactly disrespectful but not respectful enough.

This week I will only post these photos of some beautiful blooms; a White Carnation (to express remembrance) and a Yellow Rose ( for my earnestness).

My thanks to everyone who spoke kind words of regret and encouragement. I am pleased to say that the funeral was beautiful (personal, touching and full of love) and the fabulous St Nicholas' Church in Carrickfergus was packed to the rafters, so loved was the man and his family.

Bloomin' Monday - Hellebore

How's this for perfection? A gorgeous blemish free white Hellebore flower nestled in amongst the heathers at a local nursery. I think this is the 1st Hellebore flower I have met that wasn't shy whatsoever. Pity mine, at the lottie didn't make it quite as well - oops!

Intricate beauty of a flower (1) ~ Persian Buttercup

The Ranunculus is by far and away my favourite flower of the moment. I just adore their abundance of tighty packed petals and the white verision is the best ever. My Hubby bought me a beautiful bunch on Saturday when I was really very ill and I thought I would share them with you. Sort of a 'Wordless Wednesday', only it's Monday and I do like to ramble on a bit. So....a Bloomin' Monday instead.

My thanks to all the lovely people who have been sending messages to help me get through this awkward and stressful time, your words have not fallen on deaf ears and if I may be so bold... I love you xx
It sounds silly but I am still having trouble reading, poor concentration, bad double vision and the shakes. My mind feels like it's on the drain/spin cycle of the washing machine. It's taken me all day to write this one tiny bloggette. So, sorry I haven't been visiting my blogging friends, fingers crossed things will get better soon.
